I came to the US in 1989 from Kyoto, Japan. I have a passion for cooking and baking, and strives to share my enthusiasm for the culinary arts with other people.
As a young girl living in a small apartment complex in Japan, I liked to make milk pudding treats for my neighbors. It was fascinating to me that such simple ingredients as milk, sugar and gelatin could be transformed into such a delicious dessert.
Since then, I have enjoyed making all kinds of desserts and breads!
I am also fortunate to practice the Japanese Way of Tea, Chado, at the Urasenke Foundation San Francisco, where people respect each other and share the simple pleasure, making & drinking tea together.
When I am not in the kitchen or tearoom, I enjoy traveling, jazz and classical music, sewing and any kind of sport followed by a nice long bath!
